Drawn back to the coast after years living inland, I found myself in Norfolk ten years ago. It’s a haven for wildlife and nature, the perfect location for my first homeware store. I was so fortunate to find a little unused building on a working farm here at Drove Orchards. Right on the coast road, the building had been used for packing mushrooms in the 50’s and offered a light, rustic home for me to develop my business. Dealing solely in rustic, vintage homewares I grew the business and soon ran out of room in my beautiful but ramshackle shed.
With the move to a new build, much larger premises on the same site I had developed a much more defined look. Undertaking several interior styling projects, I was drawn to a far more neutral pallet emphasising texture rather than colour.
Joyful Living has been trading from the new barn now for almost eight years, and I’ve been here trading for thirteen amazing years. My interior style continues to evolve and change. My signature style will always be a neutral colour palette which you will see at the store along with great merchandising, pops of colour, surprising brands and always great scents. My team work really hard to ensure our customers have a great experience when shopping with us and are always on hand to advise and help.
After years working in the PR industry, I longed to be back in rural Norfolk where I could rediscover my creativity and inspiration. I moved back with my husband, Ted and we enjoy our new life with our golden Cocker Spaniel, Cooper.
I’ve always had a keen interest in interiors and styling and understand the importance of a well put together room scheme. After all, coming back to a relaxed and calming space after a long day at work is so important.
You will find me at the store midweek, merchandising and creating new displays, unboxing deliveries and taking photos for social media. This is updated everyday as we always have new and exciting stock landing so keep up to date with us.
